| | I ordered and received "The Works of Jonathan Edwards", this past week. This man was a theological giant!! As I was thumbing through the volumes I was shaking my head in sheer amazement at the quality and depth. His language is not as mentally taxing as John Owen's. There is the friendly debate concerning which theologian was the greater. In my view, both are unsurpassed!! They are the two greatest english-speaking theologians who ever lived. They were two of God's greatest gifts to the church! I'm enjoying myself as I presently work through the Pauline epistles. This time, I'm using a french translation that was done by Louis Segond, and published in 1910. This is probably the most widely used translation in the french-speaking world. I also have a portion of it on audio. I've been listening to Romans and following along with the printed text. This has been quite enriching, eventhough the reader does so with a canadian accent. (No disrespect intended). I've had a few health issues, but on the whole am feeling fine. My mind tends to get very active at night and so I've had some trouble sleeping. I think part of it is listening to too much news on the radio. (I don't own a television). I listen to the BBC, National Public radio, and certain talk radio programs. I'm very thankful to be employed with so many losing their jobs. Let's keep them in our prayers! |
